Gen 3 Zone Target

It is no secret that the market is flooded with steel targets. One simple Google search is all someone needs to do to see the overwhelming number of targets available. Give it a try: Type in “AR500 Steel Targets” in Google and check it out.

The hard part is distinguishing between the companies who are actually innovating and pushing the limits and the ones who are simply regurgitating worn out designs that have been proven ineffective over the last 20 years.

For many of you reading this, you already know who we are. You know about our company and our mission to radically change the landscape around steel targets. For those of you who are new here, we thank you for taking the time to read this post. Our company is pushing the envelope with regards to steel targets. We are committed to you as our customer and are committed to only creating the best targets on the market. Targets that actually provide value. We want to earn your business, become a small part of your story and bring you along for the ride as we pave the way, with your help, to a future of a different kind of targets.

Our Gen 3 Zone Target is just another example of our commitment to pushing the limits.

Our Gen 3 Zone Target is a reactive steel target that is made from 3/8″ AR500 steel. Shooters who desire to push their accuracy and precision while they build speed will find that the Zone Target fills that void perfectly. With four reactive paddles and small center mass and head zones, this target will challenge even the most seasoned shooters.

The Zone Target is a fixed target plate meaning it is bolted to the upright. We have done this to ensure that the paddles rotate consistently. Most companies making a target like this use small outside gussets that cradle the paddles. In fact, our original Zone Target used a similar design. We quickly realized that we could come up with a stronger, more versatile way to attach the paddles to the plate. We designed our single gusset and key opening and during testing confirmed our belief that this was the superior way to mount the paddles.

The paddles have a large key opening that allows insertion over the single gusset. Gravity holds the paddles into a skinny section of the key and makes it impossible for the paddles to “jump off” the gusset. Side cradled gussets, like most of our competition, often allow paddles to jump out of their position forcing shooters to walk downrange to reset paddles. Each gusset has a slot that allows the paddle to “hinge” when impacted by a round. This gives positive audible and visual feedback to a shooter. Paddle hits will ring louder and with more definition than a body hit on the target which further helps shooters to develop critical skills while training.

The Zone Target also features a forward lean, like all of our other systems which helps absorb bullet impacts and deflect fragmentation to the ground.

This target is designed for centerfire pistols from 10 yards+ and Rifle Calibers (.223/5.56 NATO, 300 blackout, 7.62×39) at 100 yards. As you can see from the pictures, we stuck with our round 20″ base as the standard option for this target. This means, just like our A-DAP system, you can use paper/cardboard targets or shoot the steel target plate. Shoot them both at the same time if you would like.

Hopefully this short blog introduced you to the Zone Target and hopefully answered some questions you may have had about it. If you have a few minutes, check out the two videos posted below. They will even further show you the advantages of the Zone Target and give ideas of how you can implement it into your training.
