BNVD – No Gain Nightvision Binocular

Lead Time on this product: 2-4 Weeks

Every year night vision and night vision gear becomes more and more commonplace. This is fantastic. Proliferation of modern gear in the hands of regular citizens is a safeguard against future regulations and it helps us change the culture for the better.

BNVD’s are an awesome option for folks looking for an ultra-durable helmet mountable binocular night vision device. Individual articulation and auto shut off in the stowed position are a few features that these no gain BNVD’s include. Read below for FULL description and specs.

*NOTE: Nightvision is currently EXTREMELY volatile. Lead times listed below are approximate and subject to daily changes. Please contact at our contact page with questions about availability.

**Night vision is ITAR regulated and cannot under any circumstance be exported outside of the US. You will be prompted to fill out our ITAR compliance form during the checkout process.

What is a BNVD?

The BNVD is a binocular night vision device that features individual articulation (both channels can articulate individually). BNVD’s feature outstanding depth perception and supportability at reasonable price points. BNVD’s are designed to be comfortable and capable of wearing for long periods of time with minimal fatigue.

BNVD’s are a rugged option for people looking for binocular night vision that also features articulation. The housing has a very robust yet simple design that has been proven in the field over time. Rest assured that with the BNVD’s you will have a high performance, high endurance binocular night vision device that will last, even through harsh environments.

The difference between the BNVD and PVS-14:

The PVS-14 is a monocular meaning it has one image intensifier tube that can be used over one eye. BNVD’s feature two separate image intensifier tubes and allow you to see with both of your eyes through the unit. The benefit of Bino’s over a PVS-14 is better depth perception, less fatigue, and an overall better nigh vision experience in the darkness.

Features of the BNVD night vision binocular:

The BNVD’s we offer feature “tactical monocular cutoff” which means when either channel is rotated up and stowed, it automatically shuts off the unit. This conserves battery life but also minimizes chance of revealing positions of the user in the darkness. The unit will automatically power up either channel when rotated back down into position. This feature can be disabled with the four position power switch. The BNVD is submersible to 66 feet for up to 3 hours. The BNVD’s we offer feature internal battery power which houses 1 AA battery for up to 20+ hours of run time with Alkaline AA and up to 40 hours+ run time with Lithium AA battery.

Units are manufactured for us by Night Vision Devices and are backed by their 10 year warranty.

This system complies with MIL-STD 810G, MIL-PRF-A3256342A(CR) and MIL-PREF-49427(CR).

NOTE: Lead times for units shown above is 1-4 weeks. This may change without notice as the market is incredibly volatile. Currently L3 tubes are 6 months or more out. For this reason we are equipping citizens with other high quality and available options.

1.) Should I buy BNVD or PVS14?

That’s a tough one. Really, the PVS14 is the gateway drug into night vision. Most people start with a PVS14 and eventually jump into bino’s. There is nothing wrong with that at all. A PVS14 can provide you awesome capabilities and at the end of the day will help you see more at night than your own eyes. You also will be able to use IR illuminators and lasers with a PVS14. With all that being said, Binoculars do everything better, generally speaking. Depth perception is better with bino’s like the BNVDS. BNVD’s also offer more features and you always have the ability to run the BNVD’s with one channel stowed up if you’re running a handheld thermal scanner. We tend to argue that Bino’s will offer more performance, but if your budget says PVS14, that’s a great option.

2.) Which Image Intensifier is best for me?

Currently L3 is pretty much off the table. The lead times are often 6 months or more and there could even be further delays until really high quality L3 tubes hit the open market. That is unfortunate, but with the help of NVD we have put together a list of good options that will work for most people.

ELBIT: Usually a phenomenal performer. The downside is currently we only have 1600 FOM green ELBIT tubes available in limited quantities. Once higher spec ELBIT tubes become available with REASONABLE lead times, we will add them to our site. These are 4-6 week lead time as available. Currently we have access to a few dozen.

Photonis ECHO tubes: Photonis tubes sometimes get slammed in the industry. They are not US made tubes. While they may not perform exactly like the ELBIT or L3, we have quite a few units in house that we have used in content that feature the Photonis tubes. If you are in a more urban environment and there is some light pollution, the Photonis will be amazing. The clarity of the tubes is there, but they will not perform in super dark conditions quite as good as the ELBIT or L3. Will that be a problem for most people? No, most people will find the Photonis tubes to work great. If you need nightvision capability and want a clear tube in white phosphor, the photonis is currently your best option. 1-4 week lead time on Photonis.

3.) White Phosphor or Green: Which is Better?

This really is a personal preference. With that being said, we prefer white phosphor as it feels more natural looking through the units. The human eye will naturally see more under white phosphor than green. With that being said, there are still plenty of people that prefer green. Ultimately, find your budget and pick the tube with the best performance within your budget. That is the most important part.

4.) What Sets the BNVD apart?

The BNVD’s and UL BNVD’s you see above are a binocular nightvision. There are quite a few binocular nightvision devices on the market, however our team wanted to curate some options that we thought would best serve the individual. BNVD’s are simple and extremely rugged. They aren’t using crazy proprietary parts which means if something goes wrong, you can get it back up and running again. They also have tons of features listed above and an attractive price point, which we thought serves most people well.

5.) Does TA Targets build these units in house?

We partnered up with NVD to provide these units. Night Vision Devices is a leader in the game of night vision and there are few places building night vision that have as much experience and time assembling units. We also choose them for these units because they have been around long enough to be able to advertise their 10 year warranty. Some smaller “pop up” night vision manufacturers might have warranties, but will they be around long enough to stand by them if something goes wrong with your unit prematurely? NVD will.

6.) What about a warranty?

These units are covered under a 10 year warranty by NVD.

7.) Is a helmet mount included in the price above?

No. You will need to purchase a helmet mount separately.

Standard Accessories: Soft Carry Case, AA Batteries (2), Operator’s Manual, Neck cord, Retaining Lens Covers, Eyecups, Lens Paper, Demist Shields, Sacrificial Windows, IR Flood/Spot Lens Assembly, Operator’s Card and Dovetail Mounting Adapter.
