What makes the Vital Zone Target so special?

The Vital Zone Target is the next iteration of our older Gen 3 Zone Target. As customers may recall, we offered a Zone Target system that was on our site for a few years. It required welding and featured much smaller paddles than the Vital Zone Target. What this means is it was NOT close range carbine rated and was unable to be used with calibers like 308. We phased that older system out to make room for this one: The Vital Zone Target.

The Vital Zone target is a reactive steel target that is approximately 12″W X 24″H. The paddle is a true A Zone size based off of USPSA specifications.

What material is the Vital Zone Produced from?

This reactive steel target system is produced from the highest quality 3/8″ AR550 money can buy. The bracket is CNC formed and adjustable. There are 3 settings for forward lean. The next generation breakdown base coupled with the Gen 5 A-DAP Top Bracket makes our systems even more refined and adaptable.

Description

Reactive C Zone Steel Target – Vital Zone

The Reactive C Zone Steel Target – Vital Zone is created from a USPSA sized C Zone plate. Then we cut out a TRUE A Zone center section and mounted a paddle behind the opening. There is a DISTINCT audible difference between an edge hit along the C Zone plate or a perfect shot placement within the A Zone. Also, use fresh paint to tell where shots are landing. This system is designed for departments and shooters looking to be able to better track shot placement without the need to replace paper targets constantly on a range with multiple shooters. This means faster, more efficient training which means more rounds down range with purpose.

Built tough for hard training.

The C Zone plate as well as the paddle are constructed from our legendary, ultra high quality 3/8″ AR550 steel. Due to the nature of the construction and brackets we ONLY offer this target in 3/8″ AR550 at this time. There are NO WELDS on this target plate whatsoever. That means the C Zone plate and paddle can be flipped and shot on the reverse side. This equates to double the life of the system. The lack of welds means the structural integrity of the system is retained and our customers get the absolute most value out of this system, PERIOD.

How is the Vital Zone attached to the post?

CNC Formed angle brackets allow the target plate to be adjusted to different lean settings. Yes, this is 2.0 Spec. All A-DAP system accessories interface with this system.

Frequently Asked Questions:
1.) We see your team shooting these targets much closer than recommended? Can we shoot closer?

Answer: Negative. Much of what we do is substantial abuse testing for QC and R&D of new and existing systems. Always follow our recommended distances for training. While shooting closer often does not pose a safety threat, it is harder on the systems. Users will potentially increase wear and tear with leads to unsafe targets when misused.

2.) Does this system feature adjustable lean angles?

Answer: Yes. Our CNC formed brackets offer 3 levels of lean. The steepest setting would be placing the clevis pin in the lowest hole for maximum forward lean.

3.) Does this system work with my current hostage assembly?

Answer: YES! The Vital Zone works with ALL A-DAP system accessories, including the hostage, and adjustable armored posts.

4.) Is this system covered under your warranty? Answer: Yes! Any of our 3/8″ AR550 systems have a 1 year strike plate warranty. If something cracks or breaks prematurely, we’ll replace it so long as it was used properly. We take immense pride in how we treat and stand by customers. This system is absolutely no different. You are purchasing the highest quality systems from us and they will perform as such.

5.) I already have a base and A-DAP top bracket or armored post, can I buy the Vital Zone target plate and paddle separately?

Answer: Yes. Go into our “individual products” section of the website.

6.) Where are these products produced?

Answer: We produce our products in Lancaster County PA. We oversee every step of the process, QC, production, packaging, and shipping. From start to finish, TA Targets is manufacturing high quality systems for hard use. Our owners own the machinery, facility, equipment, etc. We have invested heavily in newer specialty equipment to further streamline our processes and increase quality even further.

7.) Is the Armor Plating on the targets US material?

Answer: No. The “armor” we use for the strike plates (actual target impact plates) is made from a proprietary material that is manufactured for us in Sweden. this is the best material we have found in the world. We were largely dissatisfied with the QC of American made strike plates and had too many issues with quality control. Eventually we hope a US manufacturer creates a material that is as available and as stringent as our Swedish plate. For now, this is the best material to service our customers. US Manufactured AR500 and AR550 is used in areas that are NOT main strike plates. Some examples of this are the Rifle Dueling Tree Shields, Plate Rack Shields, Arachnid front shield and hostage brackets.

8.) Where does the rest of the steel come from?

Answer: Traditionally all other steel used in our systems is US origin. During the “covid pandemic” the supply chain has experienced extreme pressures. Under some circumstances some of our tube steel and angle had to be purchased from Canadian raw materials. We do our absolute best to minimize this, not because of quality concerns, but because we deeply desire to produce our products from US steel. We will not use Chinese steel plate, angles, or tubes. Rest assured.

9.) How close can I shoot the target?

Answer: This system features our newest adjustable lean brackets for optimum target lean for various uses and distances. Please note: we recommend purchasing the steel armored post if you desire to use the steepest hole location with the C Zone plate.

  • 3/8″ AR550: Rated for pistols at 10 yards, .223-308 at 50 yards. Larger calibers 100 yards. Users should be cautious using magnum calibers on this system. Increase distance for calibers larger than 308/6.5CM to avoid damaging plate. If high volume large caliber training is desired, consider our C Zone A-DAP System.
10.) Does this product fall under Prop. 65 warnings?

Answer: Maybe. Just in case, be sure not to eat the paint or lick the target before or after you’ve shot it. If you are just curious, led tastes horrible and will probably cause mental damage. If you have done it once you are likely to do it again. Handle at your own risk, if you choose, you may wear an industry grade hazmat suit and gas mask with a HEPA filter and good luck charm on your wrist.
