This was a much needed change that will make your range training more efficient. It also is a better long term investment for YOU. ⁠

Remember: If you want to, you can leave this base assembled just like the other bases of the good old days. However, when your buddy pulls low and destroys your paper holders OR 2x4 tube, these can be replaced. Not so with the older bases. ⁠

Two C Zones, different purposes. ⁠
⁠
Many people, ranges, military units, departments etc. train to "C Zone standards". This is not necessarily always a bad thing, but it depends on the desired outcome/standards. ⁠
⁠
C Zones measure approximately 12" wide x 24" tall. That is a LARGE target area. So when we are training closer with pistols, a C Zone MIGHT not be the "best" metric to build standards off. Again, this depends on the the desired outcome/purpose of the training. ⁠
⁠
When this is the situation, our Vital Zone shines. It offers a C Zone size, allows users to track hits (and misses), and gives a distinct reaction when the A Zone paddle is struck. C Zone size and familiarity with A zone accountability. ⁠
⁠
When sheer durability is needed on extremely high volume ranges, that's a good case for a traditional C Zone. The Standard C Zone also rings phenomenally. So when accoustic's matter, the C Zone wins. ⁠

Lots of folks ask about using shotguns on steel. There are many misconceptions, but the short answer is: YES. You can shoot your shotgun at our steel targets. ⁠
⁠
General recommendations: ⁠
- Don't use stainless shot, lead pellets only⁠
- 00 buck and slugs ARE acceptable⁠
- lead Birdshot: 10 yards⁠
- Buckshot: 30 yards⁠
- Slugs: Minimum 50 yards on 1/2", 100 yards for 3/8" plates⁠

Slugs can be extremely abusive on steel, but our A-DAP systems are built to take it. ⁠

Our older bases were not very compatible with our stakes. The Breakdown base is. So if you’re on uneven terrain or high wind environments and shooting cardboard, grab a stake kit for a few bucks.

Or grab the aluminum adapters and run the base sideways for the ultimate in stability. The choice is yours.
