T-Post Steel Target Hangers
T-Post Steel Target Hangers are an awesome way to get into shooting steel targets fast AND cheap! There are many benefits to using a steel target system like these. We’ll dive into that in this blog and help you to understand which one would be best for you. Two lines of portable target systems
We offer two lines of target systems. Our Genesis line of targets is an entry level steel target lineup. The Genesis are lower cost, manufactured from 3/8″ AR500 strike plates, and are easier to get into due to the lower price point. The Exodus Line of steel targets is our premium line. These systems utilize AR550 for the strike plate. Keep in mind, the Exodus systems are also an ENTIRELY different chemical makeup of plate. They are not just simply harder. They are an entirely different breed of steel. For serious shooters looking for high performance shooting targets and steel target stands, the Exodus line is a great move.
Both lines of targets are high quality, safe, and manufactured to our exacting tolerances and consistency. Both lines will be an asset to your training. At the end of this blog, we’ll talk a bit about which you should choose. For now, let’s look at each of the T-post target hangers that we offer.
The Genesis T-Post Target Hangers
The Genesis T-Post Hanger was our first target mount meant for T-Posts. This little bracket is packed with cool design features that make it strong, capable, yet inexpensive. This bracket is made from 3/16″ Steel. Additionally, the sides of the bracket have tabs that lock into the top plate. This ensures the strongest connection of the components. Further, there are fillet welds on four locations to lock the entire assembly together. This creates a receiver that can slide over standard 1.25 pound per foot T-Posts. For even more stability, we laser cut and then tap the sides for 3/8″-16 thumb screws. Additionally, we include the thumb screws and all mounting hardware needed in the cost of this bracket.
The top plate is bent in a press brake. This creates the fixed forward lean of the Genesis target plates. It’s important to note: the entire bracket is mild steel, so it should never be shot or it will be damaged. The good news is it hides safely behind our target plates. Newer shooters should run the 8″ and larger gongs until they are seasoned. Smaller plates protect this bracket LESS, which could lead to damage if you impact it with a round. Further, this is the least expensive option for target plates on our website. Value is the number one way to describe our bracket.
How the target plates attach
The Genesis line of targets utilize a single bolt connection. Behind the plate is a spring, then the bracket, and then a locking nut. This connection allows a fixed angle of lean. Additionally, the spring allows some movement when struck. Further, this keeps the cost of the entire system as low as possible. A great benefit to you, the shooter. Because of the simplistic attachment method, the Genesis line of targets rings incredibly loud.
Who should consider the Genesis T-Post
Genesis Systems are a great fit for folks just getting into shooting. Additionally, The Genesis Line Saves You Money. Further, you’ll find that even thought the Genesis is a budget friendly option, you’ll retain a ton of performance and longevity. You’ll experience more fun on your range days, and more excitement. Additionally, if you are a more experienced shooter and you already have some steel targets, the Genesis Systems get you more steel for your range for less. You can add them all around and get more steel for each dollar you spend. It is important that you note: The Genesis plates are NOT close range rifle rated. This is a key difference between the Genesis and Exodus lines of steel targets.
The Exodus T-Post Target hangers
Shortly after we dropped the Genesis T-Post Hangers, we launched the Exodus version. The Exodus T-Post Hanger has many difference in the characteristics and design that make it unique. For one, there are no welds. We utilized a 3 piece design that sandwiches the T-Post. Further, you will note that there is more bracket engagement with the T-Post when compared to the Genesis Hanger. This is due to the fact that we rate our Exodus AR550 target plates for closer distances and larger calibers. We beefed up the bracket to add as much strength as possible for this applications.
Additionally, the T-Post interfaces and interlocks with the middle 3/8″ thick steel plate. This resists front to back motion. The 3/16″ side plates also feature 3/8″-16 tapped holes for thumb screws, just like the Genesis T-Post Bracket. This further locks the bracket to the post, offering a secure mounting method for serious training. The Exodus Line of Steel targets is unique in the mounting method. We designed the brackets and mounts to allow for adjustable lean angles. Further, the target plates move an incredible amount when struck by a round. This further dissipates energy and directs fragmentation safely away from the shooters. The adjustable lean angle, movement when struck, and the high grade of steel is how we can rate Exodus Systems for close range use.
Who should consider the Exodus / A-DAP T-Post Mount
On our site we call this bracket our A-DAP T-Post Mount. A-DAP Target Plates will interface with this mount. The A-DAP target plates include: Mini A-DAP (Reduced C Zone), C Zone, Mini Vital Zone, and Vital Zone target plates. Goliath Target Plates will not interface with this bracket. The Goliath Target plate is too heavy in our opinion for a 1.25 pound per foot T-Post. This T-Post mount follows the DNA of our standard 2X4 top bracket for our A-DAP systems.
The A-DAP T-Post mount is ideal for someone who would benefit from the strength of our AR550. If you are someone who buys only the highest quality items, this is the mount for you. Additionally, if you are a high volume shooter, this is your bracket. Further, purchasing this bracket enables you to shoot at much closer distances than with the Genesis AR500 systems.
