The Deluxe Gong Target System is an elegant solution that can be seen as a permanent addition to your range. The “sawhorse” style construction is extremely strong and meant to hold heavier loads of steel gong targets. In fact, this system is capable of holding over 200 pounds of steel gong targets. Our company is committed to manufacturing our steel target systems right here in Pennsylvania. Stay away from the cheap Chinese knock off targets on amazon and similar platforms. If you don’t care about building up US manufacturing, just buy whatever is cheapest. But if you care about supporting US businesses employing US employees, audit who you spend money with! Adjust the length of the legs and the cross board to suit your needs. A unique “Lock in place” design makes transporting your system fast, easy, and convenient after shooting. We know that MOST of our customers need the ability to transport their systems, so we built that capability into this design.

This Deluxe Gong Target System kit allows the hanging of a multitude of different gongs and it creates a safe shooting gallery of sorts. The hooks have a hinge so that the plate can swing freely when struck, which in turn lessens wear and tear on the gongs. Users could also use chains or straps fastened to the cross 2X4 if desired. One thing to note: Be VERY careful what steel targets you purchase! While you CAN use other brands of target plates on our gong hanger, it is your responsibility to make sure you are purchasing safe steel and using them in a safe manner. We cannot guarantee safety or performance/distance recommendations with ANY gongs or target plates but our own. That isn’t a sales pitch. We just know there is much snake oil in this market. ā PLEASE NOTE: Brackets and Hooks are NOT manufactured from AR550 steel and are NOT designed to be targets. Bullet impacts WILL cause damage. Hooks and components are designed to resist fragmentation, but direct impacts will cause damage.
ā NEVER intentionally shoot brackets or mounting posts. Always wear gloves when handling this product, ESPECIALLY after shooting to avoid sharp edges and lead exposure.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
1.) How long does it take to setup this system?
Answer: The first time you set it up it will take a few minutes. After that, it can be set up in less than a minute. The ONLY tool needed is a 7/16″ socket or wrench to tighten the 2X4 legs into position. We INCLUDE a free tool with this system to assist, or simply use a tool you have laying around at home. Once the boards are in place, they can be left in place until they eventually need replaced. The pivot mechanism allows the legs to fold into a more transportable and compact size for your convenience.
2.) How much weight can this system hold up?
Answer: We have tested this system with over 200 pounds hanging from it. We generally would say that you should keep the system as light as possible and minimize side to side rocking while in use. If you get too much weight swinging side to side, it COULD bend the brackets. Replacements can be purchased in the event that you ever need new parts, but if used properly this system will last a lifetime.
3.) How well does the powder coating hold up?
Answer: The powder coating will only chip if you bang the components into something else, or if fragmentation hits it. Over time, expect some normal wear and tear on the finish. This is acceptable and normal. However, items that do not get hit with fragmentation will retain their finish for years to come. We don’t like the idea of shipping dusty rusted brackets to you. So we don’t. Just one other way we add value to our products.
4.) Warranty Coverage
Answer: Genesis Systems feature a 90 day manufacturers warranty with an optional lifetime warranty you can purchase. 5.) What is included in this gong hanger kit?
Answer: Use the options on this page to select your desired choices. We offer an option to purchase standard hooks OR armored hooks. Additionally, you can choose if you would like to purchase your gong targets on this page. Further, you can also purchase the wood boards you will need for assembly on this page.
6.) What length boards should I purchase?
Answer: We recommend 48″ long boards for all four legs. The center/cross 2X4 can be longer, but we would recommend ONLY going as long as 72″. 48″ across is the ideal length. For your convenience we offer the option to add 2X4 boards on this page. Please add the boards to your order if desired.
7.) Where Are These Products Produced?
Answer: We produce our products in Lancaster County PA. We oversee every step of the process, QC, production, packaging, and shipping. From start to finish, TA Targets is manufacturing high quality systems for hard use. Our owners own the machinery, facility, equipment, etc. We have invested heavily in newer specialty equipment to further streamline our processes and increase quality even further.
8.) Is The Armor Plating On The Targets US Material?
Answer: Yes. The 3/8″ AR500 is a Domestic Material manufactured here in the United States. It is a great balance of low cost and longevity. Please note: Gong targets are NOT close range rifle rated! 9.) Where Does The Rest Of The Steel Come From?
Answer: The Remainder of the steel is purchased from US mills. During economic crisis times, we have occasionally sourced Canadian steel for our A36/ HRPO steel. While this is rare, it does happen if/when US mills decide to shut down for fake pandemics and such. You remember 2020? In those situations we sometimes have our hands tied to keep customers orders moving. We never buy garbage plate and never buy Chinese plate.
10.) How Close Can I Shoot The Target?
Answer: The recommended distances would be based on the targets in use. Generally speaking, this system is meant for 10 yards with pistols, 25 yards with magnum caliber pistols, and 100 yards minimum for rifles.
11.) Does This Product Fall Under Prop. 65 Warnings?
Answer: Maybe. Just in case, be sure not to eat the paint or lick the target before or after youāve shot it. If you are just curious, led tastes horrible and will probably cause mental damage. If you have done it once you are likely to do it again. Handle at your own risk, if you choose, you may wear an industry grade hazmat suit and gas mask with a HEPA filter and good luck charm on your wrist. I ordered the deluxe gong target system to be the newest edition to my home range. Upon receiving my order, I realized the included set of hooks delivered were for the conduit gong system rather than the 2×4 hooks. I immediately contacted TA Targets and spoke to a representative. I explained the issue, and was told that they would ship the correct set of 2x4hooks to me at their cost and that I was allowed to keep the extra conduit hooks. I received an email the following morning showing the new correct hooks were sent. Upon their fast delivery, I immediately set the Deluxe Gong Target System up at my range and practiced some long-range shooting. The Deluxe Gong Target System held up great and the gong hooks perfectly upheld several impacts from both .223 and .308 from 200 yards. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to upgrade their range and overall shooting experience.
