What makes the Goliath target so epic?

This is our second generation of the Goliath system. We further refined the target plate and mounting method to bring the Goliath in line with our other members of the A-DAP family of targets. Now all accessories for the A-DAP systems will function with the Goliath System.

Who is the Goliath System designed for?

Ultra long range shooters and people who desire to own target systems that are rated for and sized properly for 50 BMG will appreciate the attention to detail of this target. If you own larger bore rifles or like to shoot at ultra long distances on D Zone sized targets the Goliath is probably a solid option. The next generation breakdown base coupled with the Gen 5 A-DAP Top Bracket makes our systems even more refined and adaptable.

Description

50BMG Steel Target System:

This is a 50BMG Steel Target System. The Goliath A-DAP Target System is purpose built to be a beast. It is designed to take the rigors of close range small arms fire, just like the C Zone or Mini A-DAP. The Goliath is also designed, when used with our 26″ base, for 50 BMG. This is the ONLY target system in our lineup that has been purpose built to handle the abuse that 50 BMG puts down. It is rated for 50BMG (with proper ammo) at as close as 100 yards. You read that right: Your 50 won’t make this system flinch at 100 yards. That’s wild. At 100 yards a 50BMG puts down over 10,000 foot pounds of energy! Find another system that can handle that AND ring as loud as the Goliath System.

Where does the Goliath System Shine?

The Goliath shines in applications where end users want a D Zone style target. It is also perfect for shooters who desire to use 50 BMG. Our other systems, like the Mini A-DAP and C Zone will take hits from a 50, but they aren’t as stable as the Goliath. Even if you aren’t shooting a 50, this system can still be perfect for you. The large plate is amazing for distance shooting, and the audible feedback is incredible. You will know when your rounds impact this steel target plate. The sound of impacts is distinct and clear even when wearing ear protection.

For applications requiring large wildcat cartridges, we highly recommend the Goliath.

Proper Ammunition Types:

It is important to make sure you are using proper ammo, especially with 50BMG or wildcat cartridges. NEVER USE ARMOR PIERCING OR INCENDIARY AMMO. PERIOD. You WILL damage your target if you use it improperly and this is EXTREMELY dangerous. Only use lead or mild steel core 50BMG.

  • For lighter calibers up to 300 winchester magnum, choose our 20″ base. Using 50 BMG on these bases MAY knock the target system over at 100 yards.
  • For calibers up to 50 BMG at 100 yards MINIMUM please choose our 26″ round base. This is the ONLY base we rate as stable enough for 50 BMG. Some terrain conditions/slopes MAY require staking for ultimate stability.

We see your team shooting these targets much closer than recommended? Can we shoot closer? Answer: Negative. Much of what we do is substantial abuse testing for QC and R&D of new and existing systems. Always follow our recommended distances for training. While shooting closer often does not pose a safety threat, it is harder on the systems. Users will potentially increase wear and tear with leads to unsafe targets when misused.

Does this system feature adjustable lean angles? Answer: Yes. Our CNC formed brackets offer several levels of lean. The steepest setting (bottom hole) allows the maximum amount of lean.

Is this system 50 BMG rated? Answer: Yes it is when it is purchased with the larger 26″ base. The larger base is required for maximum stability when used with 50 BMG. Target should never be used with armor piercing or incendiary ammo of ANY kind, EVER! Minimum distance with 50 BMG is 100 yards.

Does this system work with my current hostage assembly? Answer: YES! The Goliath A-DAP works with ALL A-DAP system accessories, including the hostage, armored posts.

Is this system covered under your warranty? Answer: Yes! 1/2″ AR550 systems feature our lifetime warranty. For FULL details please see our warranty page on the site.

I already have a base and A-DAP top bracket or armored post, can I buy the Goliath A-DAP target plate separately? Answer: Yes. Go into our “individual products” section of the website.

Where are these products produced? Answer: We produce our products in Lancaster County PA. We oversee every step of the process, QC, production, packaging, and shipping. From start to finish, TA Targets is manufacturing high quality systems for hard use. Our owners own the machinery, facility, equipment, etc. We have invested heavily in newer specialty equipment to further streamline our processes and increase quality even further.

Is the Armor Plating on the targets US material? Answer: No. The “armor” we use for the strike plates (actual target impact plates) is made from a proprietary material that is manufactured for us in Sweden. this is the best material we have found in the world. We were largely dissatisfied with the QC of American made strike plates and had too many issues with quality control. Eventually we hope a US manufacturer creates a material that is as available and as stringent as our Swedish plate. For now, this is the best material to service our customers. US Manufactured AR500 and AR550 is used in areas that are NOT main strike plates. Some examples of this are the Rifle Dueling Tree Shields, Plate Rack Shields, Arachnid front shield and hostage brackets.

Where does the rest of the steel come from? Answer:Traditionally all other steel used in our systems is US origin. During the “covid pandemic” the supply chain has experienced extreme pressures. Under some circumstances some of our tube steel and angle had to be purchased from Canadian raw materials. We do our absolute best to minimize this, not because of quality concerns, but because we deeply desire to produce our products from US steel. We will not use Chinese steel plate, angles, or tubes. Rest assured.

How close can I shoot my target? Answer:

  • For centerfire pistols: 10 Yards
  • For centerfire rifles: (.223/5.56 NATO, 300 blackout, 7.62×39): 30 yards, (308, 6.5 CM, .243): 50 yards.
  • 50BMG with lead core ammo: 100 yards minimum.

Does This Product Fall Under Prop. 65 Warnings? Answer: Maybe. Just in case, be sure not to eat the paint or lick the target before or after you’ve shot it. If you are just curious, led tastes horrible and will probably cause mental damage. If you have done it once you are likely to do it again. Handle at your own risk, if you choose, you may wear an industry grade hazmat suit and gas mask with a HEPA filter and good luck charm on your wrist. The only steel I buy
Seriously. If I am looking for a new steel target, there is only one company I consider and it’s TA Targets. This Goliath ADAP is a monster and sounds like freedom when it rings. It’s a must have.

    Only Steel I Buy!

Hands down the best steel. My favorite part is the distinct sound the steel makes every time a round hits it. This is due to the quality of the steel and smart engineering. It helps a lot when shooting long distance.
